Megan Henry has worked in opera, operetta, musical, theater, and concerts. She is currently based in Germany.

Megan has won several awards and competitions, most recently she was a winner at the 32nd International Voice Competition at Schloss Rheinsberg, Germany, won 3rd prize together with harpist Felix Hahn at the 13thInternational Suoni d’Arpa Competition in Saluzzo, IT, and recieved an encouragement award at this years DAAD competition. She is also a grant recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now stipend.

On the operatic stage, Megan has sung Musetta in Puccinis “La Boheme”, Papagena and the 2nd Lady in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”, Berenice in Rossini’s “L’occasione fa il ladro”, Rosalinde in J. Strauss’ “La Chauve Souris” (Die Fledermaus), Rachelina in Paisiello’s “La Molinara”, Elle in Poulencs “La Voix Humaine”, Gräfin Pepita Inez in Abrahams “Märchen im Grand Hotel”, Esmerelda in Smetanas “Die Verkaufte Braut”, Lucia in Brittens “The Rape of Lucretia”, Elisetta in Cimarosa’s “Il Matrimonio Segreto”, Savitri in Holst’s “Savitri”, Anne Egerman in Sondheims “A Little Night Music” and Lady Ella in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Patience”

Among other performances, Henry sang with the Orchestra Classique de Montreal, the Orchestra de la Francophonie, the Würzburger Philharmoniker, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Sorbischen National-Ensemble, the Main Philharmonie, and Sinfonia Augusta, working with conductors including Simon Rivard, Julien Proux, Gabor Hontvari, Ulrich Maier, Bernhard Forck, and Justin Pambianchi andstage directors including Lorraine Pintel, Tristan Braun, Georg Quander, Solvejg Bauer, Ilaria Lanzino and Katharina Thoma.

Megan has taken part in a number of festivals and expirimental productions. Among others, she toured the state of Iowa in the Singer/Dancer cast of “Jim McDonough’s Holiday Grande”, and the east of Germany as the soprano soloist with “The World of Film Music”, the Hidalgo Festival (München), the Festival d’Art Vocal (Montreal), Das Lied! International Song Festival (Bad Windsheim), and Way Off Broadway (Iowa, USA). She sings regularly in concerts across Germany crossing between classic, jazz, and musical repertoire. A passionate interpreter of new works, Megan had the honor of premiereing SoYoung Kims “Credo” live in Studio 1 on BR Klassik with pianist Chen He, she also premiered the chamber music piece “300 Goats” at the Week of New Music Festival in Würzburg in 2022 and originated the role of Moriko in the Musical “Sea of Trees” with the Iowa Writers Program.

She has taken part in several masterclasses with, among others, Brigitte Fassbaender, Edith Wiens, Laura Aikin, Susanna Eken, Cheryl Studer, Janet Williams, and Ira Siff. Megan is supported by the Deutschland Stipendium, Yehudi Minehuin Live Musik Now, DAAD and Rotary International. Megan is fluent in English, German, and Spanish she is currently refining her French and Italian. She studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
